In July Kris and I went camping with some friends in the Uintas. We took Friday off of work, and left work early on Thursday to make it a long weekend of fun filled camping! It was raining on our drive up there, and we were a little worried about it, but decided not to let a little rain stop us from having fun. When we got there, everything was wet, but the rain had mostly stopped. So we set up camp, made some foil dinners, ate s'mores around the fire, and went to sleep.

In the morning it was sunny and warm. So we made a nice big breakfast before heading off on a hike.
Breakfast prep. We got an awesome/roomy spot in a nearly full site. That's our tent on top of the hill.
Looking the other direction, that is Melani and Gavin's tent
Kristopher's specialty, making Hash Browns.

Then we set off on a walk around the campsite, and then drove up to a trail head. It was a very pretty hike.

This lake was just down the hill from our campsite

Near the beginning of the hike... and that sun was sure shining!

Then came the clouds. And a few minutes later, the thunder began. We quickly turned around and hiked back down.
Rain on the water. Not too bad yet!
By the time we got back to camp, it was pouring like crazy. We tried to set up a canopy shelter, but the rain just blew under the shelter and still soaked our legs. Then the hail began, and our tents quickly looked like this:
So we waited it out in the car and had a lunch of chips and cookies.
This is where we got grouchy and stopped taking pictures for a little bit. We tried to wait out the rain in the car for over an hour, with no signs of it stopping. And on top of that, Kris went and checked on our tent, to find that there was a puddle about 3 inches deep between our tarp and our tent, and it was slowly making it's way in. We finally decided that if the rain ever DID stop, there wouldn't be enough time for anything to dry before it got dark, and we'd be miserable. So, we sadly packed up, and put on a smile for one last picture at the camp. (and yes, it's still raining)
on the ride home this sleeping bag swallowed my head!
We got home and the sun was shining and we dried off very quickly. It was a lot of fun, we were glad we went, but we sure had a lot of food left over!
