Some of you have already heard this story, but it's the only interesting thing that's happened to me for awhile.
Thursday afternoon at lunch I stated itching like crazy on my upper leg. It itched so bad I couldn't believe it! So first chance I got, I ran to the bathroom to check it out. I had what looked like 2 spider bites on my leg, about 3 inches apart. The rest of the day I had to focus on not scratching them too much. It was driving me crazy! That night when I was getting ready for bed I checked out my leg in the mirror. One of the bites was HUGE! Like, seriously it was the size of a small pancake. Not pretty. So Kris and I decided that if it got any bigger the next day I better go see the doctor.
The next day it didn't look any bigger, but it didn't look any smaller either. It itched like crazy, and it was pretty tender from the swelling. I was a little back and forth about calling the doctor all morning. I figured that they would probably tell me to keep an eye on it and go back in if it got any bigger. And I didn't want to use the time from work to have a doctor tell me that. But I finally called in to the doctor and told them what it looked like and asked if they thought I needed to go in. The girl said I probably better, so I did. And it's a good thing I did. Turns out I had a fever of almost 101, and I didn't even realize it. When they told me, I was like, oh, that's why it was so hot in the waiting room... nice. Also, the bite had gotten infected, and if I hadn't gone in, I most likely would have spent the weekend in the hospital recovering. They gave me a nasty shot in the hip, which is still sore, and some huge horse-pills to take for the next week and a half, and if it isn't gone in the next few days, I get to go in for another nasty shot. Fun times! I'm just glad I didn't end up in the hospital...

If I wasn't afraid of spiders before this story would have done me in. Eeeew. Glad you're recovering!
Weird! Stupid spiders! So, you didn't feel ill or anything? Just itching and swelling? That's so crazy!
I did have a headache... but then I usually do when I'm tired. And I was really tired... Otherwise I felt fine! But now the antibiotic isn't being too kind to me and I feel like crap... :(
OUCH!!! so sorry...sounds like NOT a lot of fun!
It sounds like MRSA - methicillin resistant Staph aureus. We see it quite a bit in community medicine. I imagine they gave you antibiotics so you should be fine; it's probably a good idea to go back in to the doctor's, though, if you don't see any improvement or your fever doesn't go down.
